What a load of logophiles! (That’s a clue that you may need a dictionary for the next bit!)

Evening all,

Well, I asked for some suggestions for the name of the new book, and, as always, you didn’t disappoint!

Now, that’s not to say that I’ve managed to pick the title yet, as I’m still mulling over a few ideas, but I thought that as I was due to post an update on my progress (‘Has it been two weeks already?’ I hear you cry…), I thought now would be a good time to share some of them with you.

Now, believe it or not, this is the edited list, as I received loads of suggestions, and not many of them will work as book titles.  But there are definitely some brilliant words on here that I thought I should share with you. Even if they never get used for a book title, I’m determined to drop some of them into general conversation at some point!

Obstreperous (Noisy and difficult to control) ( I think they were referring to me.)

Divagate (To stray or digress) (Now I know they’re talking about me! )

Vociferous (Loud and forceful) (Am I sensing a theme, by any chance?)

Esoteric (Intended for a select group of people) (Ok, so that one’s no good as Invisible was free for everyone!)

Egregious (Outstandingly bad) (Well, my one star reviewer may think so, but overall, I hope not!)

Edacious (Relating to eating) (This definitely can’t be me! I’ve been on a diet since 2015!)

Absquatulate (Leave quickly) (The way my back’s been playing up, I don’t do anything quickly at the moment!)

Fugacious (Tending to disappear: fleeting) (Are you calling me a flibbertigibbet? See, I have words of my own!)

Anfractuous (Full of twists and turns) (Like one of my books. No?)

Blatherskite (A person who talks at great length without making much sense) (I think someone is trying to tell me something!)

Ok, so if I’m honest, as wonderful as those suggestions were, I’m not quite feeling the love for any of them for my Book 9 title. If you’ve read my books, or even just checked out my home page, you’ll know that I go for something a lot more ‘simple’.

So, here are some of the suggestions that have moved a little closer to my imaginary shortlist;

Broken (Too close to Shattered?)
Kidnapped ( Sorry! …. SPOILER ALERT!) (Just kidding!)
Defeated
Fragmented
Incomplete
Torn
Damaged
Resilient
Reborn (I quite like that one!)

Anyway, I’ve got lots to think about, but if anyone has any other suggestions, please get in touch…

So, back to the update;

Two weeks on from where I restarted, and I’ve gone from one completed chapter to twenty, or roughly 40,000 words, so, as you can tell, I’m making really good progress.

I now have the plot all set in my head, my bad guys have been introduced, and my new heroine and her son are already some of my favourite characters. (I say that about every book!)

To give you an idea how long an average book is, my first five books were roughly between 86000 and 96000 words. But then the next three were around 115,000, 140,000 and 120,000 respectively, so I’m anywhere between 25% and 45% of the way through.

Unfortunately, I can’t be any more precise than that, as I don’t set myself a limit or a target. I just keep writing until I run out of story, and if you know my books well, which by now I’m sure you all do, you’ll know that no story ever runs out before the hero and heroine ride off into the sunset with a HEA. (Seriously, you did not expect me to say Spoiler Alert before that last bit, did you?)

Anyway, I’m just about finished for the night as I have an early start tomorrow, and a long week ahead.

If you have any suggestions or just want to chat Alpha/Stalwart, you know where to find me.

Have a great week,

Beth
xx

    1. Hi Eve,
      Thanks for getting in touch.
I really like Breathless, and it’s one that’s been on my radar for a little while for another character I have in mind.
I think I’ve come up with my title, but I’m keeping it to myself until the weekend (in case someone comes up with something better).
But don’t be surprised to find a Breathless somewhere along the line. It’s too good a title to waste!
      Have a great day.
      Beth xx
